Dragons shine at Wray
Dragon tracksters continued to make a name for themselves at the Dick Evans Invite in Wray last Tuesday, April 16.
Coach Corey Koberstein said that, entering the midseason, the gap is closing between some of the team’s veterans and its rising stars. Boys and girls relays and throwing both contributed to an especially good performance on Tuesday, he said.
Aaron Sierra won both of the boys hurdle events. Both performances were personal bests for Sierra, who Koberstein said is continuing to slash times and improve.
Jessy Mosqueda won the girls 200 meter dash. The girls 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay teams both placed second, and the boys 4x200 meter relay placed third.
Continuing its dominant streak, the girls shot put team swept the podium, with Correy Koellner and Emali Torres tied for first and Lauren Herman placing third. Koellner also placed second in discus, while Herman tied for third and Shianne Willmon placed eighth.
Chase Beckner, Joey Beckner and Michael Ramos also placed for the boys in the shot put and discus events.
