Dragons suffer loss in Wray

Last week marked the first week of league play, and Wray, Yuma and Limon secured wins over Holyoke, Wiggins and Burlington. At this point in the football season, both Limon and Yuma remain undefeated.

As the league looks ahead to the next football games, the Dragons are particularly excited for homecoming. The game will be played Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. against Wiggins. Having just lost to Wray 53-12, the Dragons are certainly looking for a better result this week.

On the road Sept. 30, Holyoke scored the first TD of the game with a 39-yard pass to Bryson Dirks on the opening drive. Near the end of the first quarter, Wray ran one in and had a successful 2-point conversion, taking an 8-6 lead.

In the second quarter, the Eagles doubled their score for a short-lived 16-6 lead. Holyoke quarterback Wyatt Sprague made an 86-yard touchdown pass to Tyson Mosenteen, which put the score at 16-12 with 3:15 left in the half.
