Dragons didn’t waste any time in Tuesday’s 20-4 game. Leadoff hitter Blake Mosenteen got on base with a single and stole second. Seth Watson followed up with a triple, batting in Mosenteen for the first run of the game. Jesus Trejo hit a double, batting in Watson for the team’s second run. He went on to score a third run on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Deaver.
Though Slaten Burris took a base on balls and stole second, he was left on, and the Dragons went into the bottom of the inning with a 3-0 lead. Akron did manage to get a runner to first on a walk, and he scored a run on an error.
The Rams kept Holyoke from getting any hits in the second and scored another run themselves.
Going into the third with a narrow one-run lead, Holyoke went on to have a huge inning. The Dragons made it all the way through the batting order before the Rams managed to get even one out.
Deaver started the inning off with a double, and Hunter Bergstrom followed with a single and a stolen base. Burris took first on an error, batting in Deaver. He then stole second. Miles Sprague was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Cameron Skager and Kaison Kinnie were each walked, sending Bergstrom and Burris home.
