Eaton duals last stop before regional and state wrestling

It’s a new season for high school wrestling as the Dragons prepare for regional action to determine state qualifiers this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16, at Akron.
Five Dragon wrestlers gained more experience in the regular-season finale Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Eaton duals.
“We wrestled well as a team, and it showed,” said coach Parker Redfern.
Team scores showed Holyoke losing all five of its dual matches. However, if forfeited matches in which the Dragons had no contenders were eliminated, HHS was actually 4-1 for the day, as a team.
“We’ve always struggled to fill a roster, but we battled well in the matches that we did wrestle,” Redfern added.
At 145 lbs., Jesus Trejo had five matches for the day and won them all. He had a tough opponent in the Greeley Central dual but ended up winning with a pin, said Redfern.
Luis Chafino at 160 lbs. was 4-1, including one win by forfeit; Deacon Dittmer, 152 lbs., was 3-2; Michael Ramos at 170 lbs. was 3-2, including two wins by forfeit; and Andy Lopez at 182 lbs. won two by forfeit for a 2-3 record for the day.
