Football wins first league game of season

The Dragons were on the road Friday night, Oct. 1, for their first league game of the season. They defeated Burlington 34-12 to improve their record to 4-1.

The Dragons scored three touchdowns in the first half and led 21-0 at halftime.

Burlington answered with a touchdown in the third quarter and one in the fourth, but Holyoke scored two more touchdowns in the final quarter for the 34-12 win.

“They went down to Burlington, a tough place to play, executed very well and did a great job,” coach Dusty Sprague said.

He emphasized how well both the offensive and defensive lines played for Holyoke.

“At no point were we not in control of the game because we controlled the line,” he said, adding that the defense did a great job containing Burlington’s quarterback.
