Free throws win close Burlington game

Coming off a win just the day before, the Dragons kept their momentum in the Jan. 6 varsity home basketball game against Burlington. The score remained close throughout its entirety, but in the end, Holyoke pulled ahead for a 63-55 win.
Consistently scoring throughout the game, Andy Dominguez posted a whopping 26 points. He shot 100 percent from the foul line and made two 3-pointers.
The first half of Saturday’s game was as close as a game could be. After one quarter, the score was tied at 17. Both teams kept their performance up, and after the second quarter, they remained tied at 31.
Coach Scott Dille pointed out, “Burlington had some really good guard play and some big post players so they posed some challenges for us.”
Things remained fairly even at the beginning of the second half. Going into the fourth quarter, Holyoke led 45-44, but they didn’t hold on to that lead. With just about a minute left in the game, the Dragons trailed 55-54. That’s when Burlington sealed their fate. They started fouling, and the Dragons kept their cool from the free-throw line, racking up point after point.
Tate Dille tied the game then put his team ahead with a pair of foul shots. In that last minute, Dominguez also made two from the line, and Slaten Burris, Blake Mosenteen and Dille each added another.
Finishing them off, Mosenteen stole the ball and capped off the home team’s rally with a layup and a 63-55 victory at the buzzer.
