Full Dragon team swims at Mountain View Invitational

Before returning to school after the holidays, all 17 members of the Holyoke High School girls swim team competed at the Mountain View Invite at the Mountain View High School Aquatic Center in Loveland on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The first meet after the holiday break is always a great indicator of the team’s second half of the season, noted coach Aly Brinkema. She added that there is no other athletic season quite like it with a huge break in the middle of training.

“I believe that all of the winter sports at HHS have cultivated a strong sense of commitment and discipline among the participating student-athletes,” Brinkema said.

“We are allowed to have voluntary practices on certain dates. HHS girls swimming did not slow down at all with nearly 100% attendance at every optional opportunity to swim,” she added.

Over 400 swimmers competed at Mountain View, and HHS placed in the top 16 in six individual and relay events against several of the largest swimming schools in the state.
