Future of wrestling on display at youth tournament

    Levels of wrestling ran the gamut at the Saturday, March 16, youth wrestling tournament at Holyoke High School. With 195 competitors ranging from preschool to junior high, some were just learning the ins and outs of a match and others were already making names for themselves as budding wrestlers. At this point, many have made regular appearances at Holyoke’s annual tournament.
    Holyoke Wrestling Club hosted the tournament, with many family members, friends and Holyoke High School students volunteering to make the large event possible. The wrestlers in attendance represented 26 teams from Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. Multiple mats were used in both the old and new gyms, keeping the action moving and excitement levels high, despite a turnout that was smaller than those in years past.
