Girls demonstrate big confidence, big wins on court

After a week off, the Lady Dragons were back on the volleyball court in a big way.
The varsity girls posted a big three-set win at Burlington Friday, Sept. 29, in addition to two wins and a loss at the Goodland, Kansas, tournament Tuesday, Sept. 26.
This is a great set-up to the next few weeks when the team has some important league games, said coach Hannah Petersen.
Even though the tournament didn’t have as strong of competition as she was expecting, Petersen said it was still a confidence booster for the team.

Holyoke vs. Burlington
While the varsity girls may have started out a little flat with no energy, said Petersen, they sure came back with an aggressive confidence in Burlington last Friday evening.
Holyoke won the first set 25-20 followed by another close win, 25-23. The third set was a different story altogether. At one point, the Lady Dragons led the Cougars 22-2. They ended the game 25-8.
“They really showed a desire to win,” said Petersen, noting the team’s aggressive serving and good net play.
