Girls end season with close match at state

Holyoke High School volleyball season came to an end at the 2A state volleyball tournament in Colorado Springs with a loss to No. 2 Denver Christian 21-25, 21-25, 20-25 on Wednesday evening, May 12.

Coach Michelle Vieselmeyer said she’s really proud of the way the team progressed over the season. She added that they have to play the best volleyball they can all season since their league is so competitive.

She pointed out that the big stage at the state tournament where games were being played on four courts at once might have been overwhelming for some of the players, especially with the added noise.

She acknowledged that it was a great learning experience for the girls to see what it’s like to play at state, and it will be good for the girls next year.

“Now they know what to expect,” she said, noting that it will set them up well moving forward.

Vieselmeyer said she is excited for the team and what they can do in the future. She added that she is thankful for all the community support and the escort out of town.

“That was very exciting for the girls,” she said.
