Girls face wild ride at Brush tourney

The Brush softball tournament was a wild ride for the Lady Dragons, who went 2-2 for the weekend.

“The girls played great. They played together, and they played heads up,” said coach Kendra Schlachter. “Watching them listen, learn and improve is rewarding to watch from a coaching standpoint.”

On Friday, Sept. 9, the team shut out Timnath, which is a brand-new school this fall, 15-0 to start the tournament strong.

Schlachter said they were able to jump out early and put up five runs in the first inning. “With the help of the fielders, we were able to shut them down quickly in all three innings,” she said.

The team rallied to have 12 RBIs, three of which were from Natalie Julius, who hit a walk-off triple to left field, scoring three in the third inning to end the game.
