Girls host regionals; boys go to Peyton

Both the Holyoke High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams have qualified for this weekend’s regional tournament and will be competing for a spot at the 2A state tourney March 12-14 in Loveland.

As the district champions, the girls will host the Region 1 tournament March 6-7 in Holyoke. The team is seeded No. 1 and will play No. 32 Lotus School for Excellence at 6 p.m. Friday. No. 16 Denver Christian will play No. 17 Soroco at 7:30 p.m.

The two winners will advance to the regional championship game Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to state.

Holyoke boys are the district runners-up and will head to Peyton for the Region 7 tournament this weekend. At 5 p.m. Friday, No. 7 Peyton will play No. 26 Plateau Valley, followed by No. 10 Denver Christian vs. No. 23 Holyoke at 6:30 p.m.

Friday’s two winners will play in the regional championship Saturday at 1 p.m., and the winner will advance to state.
