Golf opens at Brush

With only three days of practice leading up to the boys golf season opener at Brush Thursday, Aug. 8, it’s nice to have the first tournament under their belt, coach Nick Flaa said.

The Dragons were led by senior Mason King, who shot a 101 for the day to tie for 23rd in the nine-team varsity tourney. Not far behind was freshman Ty Dirks, with a 102 to tie for 25th.

Also on the Holyoke varsity team were Mason Vernon, 109 and Tristen Ferguson, 110.

“They all hit some great shots but at times had trouble putting it all together,” Flaa said. Keeping things in perspective with regard to the short practice time prior to Thursday’s tourney, Flaa noted that it’s nice to know where everyone is at and what they need to work on.
