Golfers place 3rd in Akron

Holyoke girls golf opened their season at the Washington County League Tournament in Akron on Tuesday, May 4.

This was the first time a Dragon golf team competed at Washington County Golf Club, and Coach Nick Flaa said they were led by Amy Mackay’s senior experience.

“Amy got around the course really well, kept the ball in front of her with some solid strikes and managed some high quality shots into the greens,” Flaa said.

He pointed out that the other three girls, Grace Roberts, Erin Andersen and Emma Thompson, are all sophomores and were playing in their first competitive tournament.

Mackay carded a 120, tying for eighth place. Roberts tied for 10th with a 123. Andersen posted a 129 to get 14th and Thompson shot a 135 for 17th.
