Golfers prepare for league, regionals

While it feels like boys high school golf just started, the regular season is nearing the end as Dragon golfers prepare for the league tournament at Wray on Thursday, Sept. 17, and regionals at Boomerang Links in Greeley on Monday, Sept. 21.

Additionally, Holyoke JV players will compete in the Brandon Chase Memorial Tournament at Riverview Golf Course in Sterling on Friday, Sept. 18.

State golf is slated for Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, in Gunnison.

HHS competed in a varsity only 19-team event in Fort Morgan on Thursday, Sept. 10. Windsor, the returning state 4A champ, won the invitational with a 241, followed by Fort Morgan 245, Sterling 253 and Brush 255. The Dragons turned in a 315 for 18th as a team.

For Holyoke, “this was a day of golf where you just tip your hat to the golf course,” said coach Nick Flaa, adding, “The course definitely won the battle.”
