HHS beats Cornerstone, Prairie in first tournament

Holyoke volleyball opened their season at the Brush tournament Aug. 25. The Dragons were joined by Brush, Wiggins, Weldon Valley, Prairie, Estes Park and Cornerstone Christian Academy in the round-robin tournament.
Of the three matches they played, the Dragons won two. They beat Cornerstone Christian 3-0 and Prairie 3-2. Against Weldon Valley, Holyoke fell 1-3.
For their first competition of the season, coach Hannah Petersen said the girls really stepped up. There were people playing in new positions outside of their comfort zone and JV setters who rose to the challenge of varsity competition. They came together, doing what was necessary for the team.
