HHS boys represent in Valley swim tri
HHS swimmers Drew Stewart and Keegan Shaw, swimming with the Valley High School team in Gilcrest, were major contributors in the team’s Thursday, April 27, triangular meet with Thompson Valley and Estes Park.
“It was a great meet,” said coach Aly Brinkema. “I’m so excited for conference.”
Brinkema said Shaw has dropped three seconds from his 100-yard backstroke time in the last week, and is just two seconds away from the 4A state qualifying time with a 1:04.60.
Stewart and Shaw swam in two relays together, placing third in the 200-yard medley as well as in the 200-yard free relay.
In individual events, both boys also competed in the 50-yard freestyle, with Shaw placing fifth and Stewart placing eighth.
In addition, Shaw placed third in the 100-yard backstroke, and Stewart placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly.
The next meet is the conference meet at Mountain View High School, with preliminary races Friday, May 12, and finals Saturday, May 13.
