HHS competes in new game day cheer division at state spirit championships

Colorado’s 2019 state spirit championships debuted a new division, game day cheer. Added to the lineup of cheer, poms, co-ed cheer, hip-hop and jazz, game day cheer is meant to more closely resemble the cheerleading that happens at various sporting events throughout the year.

Holyoke High School was one of 19 teams in the inaugural 2A/3A game day cheer contest Dec. 6-7 at the Denver Coliseum. In the new division, teams are judged based on their ability to lead cheers, use skills to rally a crowd, communicate to fans and support athletes on the field.
