HHS hosts windy tourney

Wind was whipping out of the northwest all day Thursday, Sept. 12, making Holyoke Golf Course that much more difficult for the five teams competing in the Holyoke Invite.

Coach Nick Flaa gave credit to course superintendent Don Schelling for making the course conditions the best the team has played all year.

Freshman Ty Dirks led the way for HHS, shooting a 100 to place 10th out of 19 varsity golfers. He played a really good back nine, even though the front nine was set up much easier. Flaa noted Dirks has been playing well all season but just has to find a way to string more shots together.

Also on the Dragon varsity, Tristen Ferguson carded a 109, Mason Vernon 113 and Ethan Johnson 115. Flaa said they all played well, but again, just had trouble finding consistency. “Consistency is something every golfer is looking for, but it takes time and practice in order to obtain it,” Flaa added.
