HHS takes 2nd in final golf tourney before state

Though the Colorado 3A state golf tournament has certainly been on the minds of HHS golfers since Brenna Sullivan and Traeli Hutches qualified at regionals May 6, the team had one final league tournament to stay focused for.
On Monday, May 13, the Dragons traveled to Brush for the competition, where the team claimed a second-place finish. Sullivan also finished second individually, carding 94, and Hutches took sixth with a 99. Also golfing on Holyoke’s varsity team were Ciera Schelling 120, and Emily Chaney 117.
As coach Nick Flaa put it, Sullivan played steady, throughout the day putting herself in good positions off of the tee box. Hutches, on the other hand, put herself in some difficult situations but scrambled well. Despite their differences, both are playing some of their best golf of the year, and it’s happening at just the right time in the season.
