Holyoke to face Limon Thursday

    For the second year, the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland will host the Colorado 2A state basketball tournament. The three-day event will begin Thursday, March 8, with the top eight teams in the state.
    No. 4 Holyoke is paired with No. 5 Limon at 7 p.m. Thursday.Earlier in the day, No. 1 Yuma plays No. 8 Ignacio at 11:45 a.m.
    The two winners will meet up Friday at 4 p.m., while the losers play Friday at 8:45 a.m.
    On the other side of the bracket, No. 3 Wray plays No. 6 Rangely at 4 p.m. Thursday, and No. 2 Simla faces off with No. 7 Clear Creek at 8:45 a.m.
    Of those four teams, the winners will play Friday at 7 p.m. and the losers will play at 11:45 a.m.
    Saturday’s events include the consolation game at 9 a.m., the third-place game at noon and the championship at 7 p.m.
    Six of the eight teams in the state tournament won their district championships and got to host their regional brackets. Holyoke and Wray both upset higher ranked teams at regionals to qualify for state.
