Holyoke, Haxtun to play in first-round district baseball

    Eight 2A District 2 baseball teams will face off in the district tournament this weekend, May 11-12, in Holyoke. The first round of competition will be held Friday.
    Sedgwick County (No. 1) and Akron (No. 8) will start the day off with a 9:30 a.m. game. Next, Yuma (No. 2) and Merino (No. 7) play at 11:30 a.m. Wiggins (No. 3) and Wray (No. 6) will play at 2:30 p.m. Finally, Holyoke (No. 5) and Haxtun (No. 4) face each other at 4:30 p.m.
    Semifinals will be played Saturday. At 10 a.m., the winners of Friday’s game 2 and game 3 will face off. At 12:30 p.m., the winners of Friday’s game 1 and game 4 will play each other.
    The championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. League and school passes will not be accepted for admission to the district tournament. CHSAA and CHSCA passes will be accepted.
