Holyoke hosts final summer swim meet

Competing in a new league can feel stressful. Because of this, Holyoke hosted the last regular swim meet of the season in their new league by swimming in various relays for fun.

Hosting the Imperial, Nebraska team, new and old faces of the Holyoke team came together to race Friday, July 2. During the meet, both teams swam together because it was a mixed meet where teams were chosen based on cards they pulled.

Parents, friends and community members joined in on the fun by filling up the bleacher seats to the point where people had to stand on the edges of the pool to cheer.

Age groups for the relays were 9 and under, 10-13, and 14 and over. Relays included a long freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, short freestyle and individual medley.

To make this meet more exciting, the swimmers could swim in other relays such as a t-shirt relay, noodle relay, parents relay and more.

With this being the first relay meet in the new league, many kids tried new events for the first time.
