Holyoke softball celebrates banner season at banquet

Holyoke High School’s 2018 Lady Dragon softball team capped off a tremendous season Sunday, Nov. 18, with an awards dinner at the Biesemeier Room in the Phillips County Event Center.
Coach Sherman Kage recognized each of the players and spoke about how they inspired him with their willingness to play through concurrent injuries and other adversity.
“It’s been such a wonderful year for me,” he said. “It seemed like we were always playing with a broken flipper, but we still managed to win.”
The 2018 season marked the first time in six years that the team made postseason play, and brought All-Conference and All-State recognition for multiple girls.
Players who earned letters were seniors Molly Brown, Savannah Burris, Gabi Gordon, Hailey Mavis and Brooke Schneider; juniors Shianne Willmon, Lali Marquez, Sarah Razo, Sirissa Casady, Lauren Bergner, Victoria Race and Rylee Lundgren; sophomore Haley Van Overbeke; and freshmen Lauren Herman and Correy Koellner.
