Holyoke swim club sets 2 records at Colby swim meet

At the June 24 Northwest Kansas Swim League meet in Colby, Kansas, Holyoke swimmers broke two pool records, both previously held by Holyoke Swim Club members.

In the 15-18 age division, Emily Krogmeier broke her own 2016 pool record in the 200 meter individual medley, with a time of 2:52.71.

Rylee Schneller, swimming in the 13-14-year-old division, set a new record of 1:18.98 in the 100 meter butterfly, an honor previously held by teammate Lali Marquez.

Coach Aly Brinkema noted that cooler weather and the slightly longer pool distance did not seem to have an effect on the Holyoke swimmers who all performed very well.

Coach Adria Colver said the younger swimmers looked even more polished this week than at previous meets.

The Colby meet contained the 200 meter freestyle races, which are not included in every meet but will be at league. The upcoming meet in Wray will have 500 yard freestyle, which is also on the league schedule. Colver said those who swam 200 meter freestyle in Colby did very well despite it being their first time.

Goodland, Kansas, came in first with 417 points. Holyoke again finished second in the team standings, scoring 365 points, followed by Burlington 202, Colby 155, Wray 84, Oberlin, Kansas, 76 and Oakley, Kansas, 65.

Only the June 1 meet in Wray remains before swimmers compete in the league event July 7-8 in Goodland.
