Holyoke swims aggressively at Greeley Invitational
Holyoke swimmers finished seventh in team rankings at their most recent meet with 130 points. They earned points in eight of the nine events they swam in at the Jan. 6 Greeley Invitational. “It was an excellent meet for us,” coach Adria Colver confirmed.
It was the first meet of the new year, but Colver was quick to point out that her swimmers didn’t spend their break simply relaxing. Most of the team showed up regularly for optional practices over the holiday. Both Colver and coach Aly Brinkema were extremely happy to see the team’s performance in Greeley. The swimmers were tired from working hard in practice, but they were still aggressive when it came to competition.
Both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays saw fourth-place finishes for the Dragons. In the medley, Haley Van Overbeke, Rylee Schneller, Lali Marquez and Regan Van Overbeke clocked 2:08.07. In the freestyle, the same four swimmers finished in 1:53.85.
Also finishing in fourth place was Schneller in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.88. Regan Van Overbeke placed seventh in the event with a 1:23.00.
