Holyoke track competes in Yuma, Byers

Monday, April 10, and Saturday, April 15, Holyoke’s track team raced to the finish line with determination – as a team, the boys took third and then fifth; the girls took 11th twice.

At the Yuma Bill Kalb Invite on the 10th, the track team placed in 20 events.

“We had 12 new personal records,” Coach Jacinda Distefano said, “despite [the weather] being scorching hot with no shelter from the elements.”

Among these new personal records included the following relays: the girls’ sprint medley; and the boys’ 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800-meters. Later on Saturday, the Terry Amundson Invite in Byers gave the Holyoke Dragons multiple opportunities that each runner, thrower and jumper took to their advantage. However, some of the track team dropped events due to the windy and cold conditions. First placers for this meet were Max Kleve, Chase Johnson, Annessa Colglazier and Elise Krogmeier.
