Holyoke volleyball adds two road wins

The Holyoke volleyball team picked up two conference wins last week, beating Caliche and Wray on their home courts.

Sweep Caliche

The Dragons swept 2-10 Caliche Sept. 27.

Holyoke jumped out 7-1 lead but that margin shrunk to 23-19 before Holyoke closed out the set 25-20. A 12-3 run by the Dragons paved the way for a 25-18 win in the second set. Holyoke trailed 8-12 in the third set before a 10-point run broke Caliche’s spirit.

Take down Wray

Friday Holyoke quickly dismantled Wray, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21.

Holyoke Head Coach Irene Ortego complimented Elise Krogmeier for her play at the next during the match.

“I feel Elise did an amazing job putting the ball down. This was good for her to see how strong she can be and really be confident moving forward,” Ortega said, adding the Dragons moved players where they could offensively be successful.

Her team’s defense stood out, as well.
