Holyoke will travel to Meeker for 1st-round playoff game

    Qualifying for the first round of Colorado 1A football playoffs, the Holyoke Dragons will be traveling to Meeker this weekend for a Saturday, Nov. 3, game against the Cowboys at 1 p.m.
    The game is expected to be a close one, as Meeker is ranked No. 8 with a 6-2 record, while Holyoke is No. 9 with a 7-2 record. This year, the Dragons have averaged about three more touchdowns per game than their opponents. The Cowboys, on average, have won by closer to two touchdowns per game.
    In addition to Holyoke, three other league teams have qualified for playoffs. They are Limon, who beat Holyoke 19-13 in their regular-season game; Burlington, who beat Holyoke 13-10; and Wray, who lost 30-14 to Holyoke.
    Other first-round games to be played Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. are:
    — No. 1 Limon hosting No. 16 Highland.
    — No. 2 Peyton hosting No. 15 Platte Canyon.
    — No. 3 Strasburg hosting No. 14 Buena Vista.
    — No. 5 Florence hosting No. 12 Wray.
    — No. 6 Burlington hosting No. 11 Paonia.
    — No. 7 Centauri hosting No. 10 Crowley County.
    On Friday, Nov. 2, No. 4 Colorado Springs Christian will play against No. 13 Monte Vista at UCCS Moutain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs.
