Homecoming game ends in loss for Lady Dragons

Holyoke’s varsity volleyball team lost a tough battle to Chase County, Nebraska, in the HHS homecoming game Thursday, Sept. 14.
After losing the first match 18-25, Holyoke came back strong to win the second 25-20.
Chase County won the third set 25-15, followed by a win in the fourth, 25-20, to take home the victory.
“We fought a little too late,” said coach Hannah Petersen, noting the girls got quiet and lost their momentum at crucial moments in the game.
“We’ll grow from here,” she said. As she’s been telling the girls all season, the key to volleyball is a “goldfish mentality” — a short-term memory that can shake off mistakes and take the game one point at a time.
Recorded stats for the Chase County game showed Emma Roll had the most serve attempts at 20, including six aces, followed by Savannah Burris with 17 serves.
