HSC breaks 8 records in Oberlin

    First place was just out of reach for Holyoke Swim Club last Saturday, June 16, in Oberlin, Kansas. Among the Northwest Kansas Swim League teams, Goodland took the win with 314 points, followed by Holyoke 303, Burlington 249, Colby 155, Oberlin 96, Wray 80, Oakley 60 and Flagler 1.
    On an individual level, Holyoke swimmers had a standout day, breaking eight records. In the 11-12-year-old girls division, Tayla Martin set three new records. In the 100-yard freestyle, she finished in 1:04.51. In the 50-yard freestyle, she swam a 0:32.65. In the 100-yard individual medley, she finished in 1:13.50.
    In the 15-18 girls events, Rylee Schneller clocked a 1:13.95 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:28.92 in the 200-yard IM. Lali Marquez swam a 1:11.84 in the 100-yard butterfly.
    Among 15-18 boys, Keegan Shaw set a new record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 0:54.74. In the 9-10 boys division, Teagan Martin clocked a 1:19.41 in the 100-yard freestyle.
    HSC will be traveling to Colby, Kansas, for the next meet on Saturday, June 23.
