July 13 mini triathlon to benefit community projects

Competition, exercise, supporting community projects — whatever their motivation, locals of all ages are encouraged to participate in Holyoke’s mini triathlon Saturday, July 13. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. in front of the Holyoke swimming pool, and the race begins at 8 a.m.
The mini triathlon, which is put on by CSU Extension, was preceded by a six-week triathlon challenge. Over that stretch of time, individuals were challenged to run/walk 26.2 miles, bike 112 miles and swim 2.4 miles.
Don’t worry, though, Saturday’s mini triathlon requires just 2 miles of running/walking, followed by 4 miles of biking and six laps of swimming (any stroke). The three legs of the race can be completed by single individuals or as a team, with each person completing a portion of the race.
Each leg of the race will start and finish at the swimming pool. A map of the course can be emailed upon registration or picked up at the Extension office. To register for the mini triathlon, email Tracy Trumper at Tracy.Trumper@colostate.edu or call 970-854-3616. Though registration will be accepted the morning of the race, preregistration is appreciated. Anyone who is interested in volunteering to help run the race can contact Trumper as well.
