JV boys sweep last week’s competition

    Holyoke High School’s JV boys basketball team beat each of its three competitors last week. St. Francis, Kansas, lost 41-21; Merino lost 29-16; and Wiggins lost 46-35.
    
Holyoke 41, St. Francis 21
    On Tuesday, Jan. 29, Holyoke hosted St. Francis, winning 41-21. The two teams seemed evenly matched early on, with the Dragons holding a one-point lead after the first quarter. In the second, Holyoke added 10 and St. Francis six, taking the score to 21-16.
    In the second half, HHS really pulled ahead, holding St. Francis scoreless in the third and giving up just five points in the fourth. The final score was 41-21.
    Cameron Skager scored the most points for the Dragons with eight. Alejandro Rojas scored seven, Aaron Sierra and Michel Perez six apiece, Alec Sprague five, Jalen Hunter four, Jaime Avila three and Carlos Legarreta two.
