JV, C boys see weekend action with Sedgwick County and Wray

    Holyoke High School’s boys JV and C basketball teams hosted Sedgwick County last Friday, Jan. 18, and traveled to Wray for games Saturday, Jan. 19. In Friday’s games, Sedgwick County won JV 35-21 and C 23-20. On Saturday, Wray won JV 53-38 and Holyoke won C 45-28.
    
Holyoke JV 21, SedgCo JV 35
    Holyoke and Sedgwick County played just three periods in Friday’s contest, and the Cougars came out on top 35-21.
    In the first period, Sedgwick County took an early lead, putting up 11 points compared to Holyoke’s five. Similarly, the second quarter saw the Cougars add 10 more points and the Dragons five. Trailing 21-10 going into the final period, HHS stepped up its offense, posting 11, but Sedgwick County’s 14 additional points meant a 35-21 win for the Cougars.
    Scoring the Dragon points were Alec Sprague and Cameron Skager with five each, Alejandro Rojas four, Isaiah Houghtelling three, and Joey Beckner and Gage Sprague two apiece.
