JV girls mark 2 in win column
Holyoke’s junior varsity girls basketball easily defeated Haxtun 23-5 Friday, Dec. 15, and Sedgwick County 34-16 Saturday, Dec. 16.
Holyoke 23, Haxtun 5
The Dragons beat the Bulldogs 23-5 in a two-period game Friday. Holyoke had a strong first period, outscoring Haxtun by eight points for a 13-5 lead.
Second period resulted in the Dragons shutting out the Bulldogs scoring efforts. Holyoke netted another 10 points to win the game 23-5.
Emali Torres led with 11 points followed by Shianne Willmon eight and Taylor Trumper and Kylie Purkeypile two each.
Holyoke 34, SedgCo 16
Holyoke junior varsity defeated SedgCo 34-16 in Saturday’s game at home.
The Dragons came out strong, outscoring the Cougars 9-4 in the first quarter. Keeping their momentum going in second-quarter action, Holyoke put up another 14 points to SedgCo’s two for a 23-6 halftime lead.
