Keeping season alive, Dragons set to play Calhan at regionals May 18
Yuma may have beat Holyoke for the District 2 title, but the Dragons aren’t finished yet. Based on its baseball team’s performance throughout the season, Holyoke High School has secured a position in the first round of the Colorado 2A regional/state tournament.
Regional games will be played Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at Runyon Complex in Pueblo. Holyoke goes into the tournament ranked No. 11 and will play No. 6 Calhan Saturday at noon on Andenuccio Field. The winner of that game will play the winner of a 9:30 a.m. game between No. 3 Rye and No. 14 Limon at 2:30 p.m.
To date, the Holyoke Dragons have an 11-8 record. By comparison, the Calhan Bulldogs have a 16-5 record. According to MaxPreps, Holyoke has a .337 batting average, while Calhan has .382. Holyoke’s on base percentage is .422 and Calhan’s .482. Holyoke’s slugging percentage is .527 and Calhan’s .550. Holyoke’s fielding percentage is .862 and Calhan’s .918.
