Lady Dragons remain undefeated
HHS girls basketball had a victorious weekend hosting Haxtun Friday, Jan. 5, and Burlington, Sat. Jan. 6. The Lady Dragons defeated both teams to continue their undefeated season record. Coach John Baumgartner noted that he was happy with the way the team played after coming off break.
Holyoke 41, Haxtun 26
After defeating Haxtun in one of the last games before the holiday break, HHS girls took on the Bulldogs again for the first league game of the season.
Holyoke came out strong in the first quarter outscoring Haxtun 14-7. Grace Dille scored three 2-pointers to lead HHS scoring, followed by Emily Jelden with four points.
The Dragons kept their momentum going in the second quarter putting up another 14 points. Jelden netted the only 3-pointer in the game while Savannah Burris and Taeryn Trumper put up two 2-pointers each. Holyoke led 28-12 at the half.
Haxtun trailed throughout the game, but gained some momentum in the third quarter outscoring Holyoke 10-7. Victoria Race led in points with four for the period.
A sluggish fourth quarter resulted in six points for the Dragons and four for the Bulldogs. Dille completed a 2-pointer and went two for two from the line. Holyoke defeated Haxtun 41-26.
