Lady Dragons repeat tourney championship

    HHS girls varsity basketball bought home the championship from the Corridor Classic tournament in Byers again this year. “This was a great way to start the season,” said coach John Baumgartner. “The girls were really excited for the wins,” he added.
    A 49-19 victory over Strasburg Friday, Dec. 1, earned the Dragons a spot in the championship game Saturday, Dec. 2, where they defeated Vanguard 43-30 to repeat their tournament championship from a year ago.
    
Holyoke 49, Strasburg 19
    In Friday’s matchup, the Dragons scored 10 points in the first quarter and 19 in the second for a 21-point lead at the half. Scoring another eight points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth, the Dragons comfortably defeated the Indians 49-19.
    Grace Dille and Taeryn Trumper led the team with a combined 37 points including nine 2-pointers each and Dille adding one for one from the line.
    Trumper scored eight of the 10 first quarter points while Dille had 20 rebounds and four steals throughout the game. Emily Jelden helped with six assists and three steals for the team.
