Limon wins regionals; Holyoke ends its season
Originally scheduled for Saturday, May 21, but postponed due to snow in Limon, Holyoke competed in the regional baseball tournament Monday, May 23, in Limon. Ranked No. 32, the Dragons played No. 1 Limon in the first round, and the Badgers won 10-0.
“We played Limon tough and pushed them to the sixth inning,” said coach Jimmy French.
The Holyoke baseball team was down some key players due to sickness and scheduling issues, but French commended everyone who was there for stepping up and doing their best.
“I was really proud of our attitude and how we were able to keep making plays in spite of a lot of adversity,” he added.
The loss marked the end of the Dragon baseball season. Limon went on to beat Byers to win the regional tournament and earn a berth to the quarterfinals of the 2A state baseball tournament.
