Masses turn out to support 131 in youth soccer

    Though Holyoke didn’t end up fielding a 19 and under soccer team this year, numbers were made up in the younger age groups, and the City of Holyoke once again had 12 teams this spring. In preschool through fourth grade, teams play exclusively in Holyoke against each other. Holyoke’s 14 and under team travels to play Nebraska teams in the Perkins County league. It takes the work of 15 volunteers to coach all the teams.
    On Sunday, April 14, the HHS football field and practice field were bustling with activity postponed from the day before. Since the U14 team hosted Ogallala, Nebraska, each of Holyoke’s 12 teams was involved in the first event of the season.
