McConnell, Perry win largest fish, heaviest haul at Enders catfish tourney

Dusty McConnell of Holyoke and Shayna Perry of Greeley landed $1,100 in cash prizes for catching the largest fish and having the heaviest total haul at the Izaak Walton’s catfish tournament at Enders Lake near Enders, Nebraska, on May 18.
The two reeled in five catfish, weighing 27 pounds total, including the largest single fish, which weighed roughly 10 pounds.
The two beat out the second place finishers, who won the previous year’s contest, by 3.5 pounds.
Organizer Tom Elder said their 10-pounder was the most exciting part of the day. “It was almost double the size of anything else,” Elder said.
The tournament drew 14 teams. It was McConnell’s seventh appearance at the Enders tournament and his fifth time teaming up with Perry.
McConnell said they faced stiff competition, but the weather cooperated for a great morning and afternoon of fishing.
