More personal bests for Dragons at league track meet

    “It was a really good day,” said coach Dusty Sprague of the Friday, May 5, Lower Platte Activities Association league track meet in Wray. League pole vault competition was held separately at HHS Thursday, May 4.
    The coach especially noted improvements in field events, with Chase Beckner and Wyatt McCallum earning personal bests in shot put, Taeryn Trumper a PB in the long jump and Luis Chafino in pole vault.
    Highlights in the girls individual events included Trumper earning first in both the 100 meter dash and the long jump. For relays, Trumper, Josie Herman, Jacky Mosqueda and Emily Jelden won the 4x100, and Jelden, Kyra Loutensock, Herman and Brook Prottsman came in second in the 4x400.
    In boys individual events, three Dragon athletes brought home third place ribbons, including Beckner in shot put, Jose Prieto in the 100 meter dash and Chafino in pole vault.
    Two boys relays placed third as well, including Monse Conde, Remington Hielscher, Miguel Soto and Matt Yost in the 4x800 and Chafino, Edwin Cruz, Alex Strauss and Prieto in the 4x400.
