Mosenteen 5th at regionals

Tyson Mosenteen wrestled his way to a fifth-place finish in the 145-lb. bracket at the regional tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12, narrowly missing qualifying for the state tournament this weekend.

He won three matches and lost two to secure fifth place. He was unable to challenge the fourth-place winner in a second match since he had lost to him earlier in the tournament.

“He wrestled really well at regionals,” coach Broc Pelle said of Mosenteen. “He wrestled fundamentally well the whole tournament.”

He added that Mosenteen has made a tremendous amount of progress throughout the year, especially since he was out six weeks with an injury.

Freshman Ben Kleve wrestled at 152 lbs., and senior Sam Trusty at 160. Pelle said that Trusty and Kleve also both came a long way this season. They saw some of the top seeds early in the regional tournament, and Pelle commended them on how they competed in their first year of high school wrestling.
