Mosenteen wins 2

After the dual scheduled for last Thursday in Burlington was canceled, Dragon wrestlers competed at the Platte Valley Invite in Kersey on Saturday, Jan. 22. Coach Broc Pelle said the meet was a dualing tournament, and Holyoke had duals against Severance, Wiggins, Florence and Fort Morgan.

Simon Krueger wrestled at 138-lbs. Tyson Mosenteen was back in action after being out due to an injury, and he competed at 145 lbs. Ben Kleve wrestled at 152 lbs. and Sam Trusty at 160.

Mosenteen won two out of four of his matches, pinning his Wiggins and Fort Morgan opponents.

Kleve wrestled an exhibition 160-lb. JV bout against Wiggins and pinned his opponent.

Pelle noted that Mosenteen and Kleve got some good wins and were able to incorporate the techniques they learned throughout the week.

“We had a slow first round but improved as the day went on,” Pelle said. “They all wrestled some hard-fought matches.” He added that they will continue to work on wrestling aggressively while still focusing on their fundamentals.
