NAPA Challenge highlights PCR season finale Friday

Phillips County Raceway’s season finale is set for Friday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Phillips County Fairgrounds in Holyoke.

Along with the season championship races will be a new for-fun event called the NAPA Challenge, as sponsored by Kameron Knight and his NAPA store, S&W Auto Supply in Holyoke.

The challenge event will be conducted at intermission — after the heat races and before the main events.

Eight local-area racers in four different divisions will be competing in the challenge race.

Three of the racers were winners in their divisions in the July 23 PCR action at the Phillips County Fair. They include Lloyd Meeske, stock cars; Max Quint, modifieds; and Tanner Clough, hobby stocks.

Other racers are the next available in total points in their divisions. They are Kyle Clough, stock cars; Brandon Clough, modifieds; and Hunter Smith, hobby stocks.

Late models will be on the PCR track for the first and only time this year. Competing in the challenge event will be Justin Bussell of Imperial, Nebraska, and Matt Firme of Haxtun.

This challenge event is the only way for the Clough brothers to compete against each other. It should be a race to watch. The Cloughs are originally from Wallace, Nebraska, and still reside in the Perkins County, Nebraska, area.
