Northeastern Colorado basketball teams head to state

    In Colorado, both 1A and 2A basketball teams will compete in state tournaments Thursday-Saturday, March 7-9. Though Holyoke teams have been knocked out, several schools will be representing northeastern Colorado. All 2A games will be played at Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, and 1A games will be played at CSU-Pueblo in Massari Arena.
    In the girls 2A bracket, Thursday’s Great Eight games include Limon (No. 1) vs. Sanford (No. 8), Yuma (No. 2) vs. Heritage Christian (No. 7), Meeker (No. 3) vs. Del Norte (No. 6), and Wray (No. 4) vs. Swink (No. 5).
    In 1A action, both Haxtun and Fleming have qualified for the state tournament, ranked No. 7 and No. 8 respectively.
    Thursday’s matchups for 2A boys include Holly (No. 1) vs. Mancos (No. 8), Yuma (No. 2) vs. Denver Christian (No. 7), Fowler (No. 3) vs. Byers (No. 6), and Highland (No. 4) vs. Limon (No. 5).
    The boys 1A bracket includes Haxtun and Merino, ranked No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.
