Numbers down but experience ample on 2019 HHS baseball team

Just 14 Holyoke High School athletes are out for baseball this year, but already they’re hard at work to make the most of those numbers. Ready to get the competition started, the Dragons will travel to Wray for an 11 a.m. doubleheader Saturday, March 16.
Much of the 2019 team is made up of experienced ballplayers, including eight returning letterwinners from last year. They are seniors Jesus Trejo and Mauro Morales and juniors Hunter Bergstrom, Slaten Burris, Caleb Deaver, Blake Mosenteen, Alexis Vega and Seth Watson.
Underclassmen on the team are sophomore Cameron Skager and freshmen Cade Killin, Kaison Kinnie, Tuff Sigler, Miles Sprague and Baylor Struckmeyer.
In his fourth year as head coach for the HHS baseball team, Sam Distefano will be working alongside assistant coaches Marcus Kammer, Jimmy French and Brendan Mayden.
Though numbers are down, Distefano noted that many of the guys who are playing have seen a lot of varsity playing time in the last two seasons. That experience will be an invaluable asset to the team.
