Local basketball players, from those entering high school to those entering college in 2019, have the unique opportunity to attend Point Guard College, a prestigious basketball clinic, in Holyoke this spring.
Hosted by the City of Holyoke Recreation Department, PGC will be held Friday and Saturday, May 31-June 1, at Holyoke High School. Registration opens Wednesday, April 10, and space is limited so those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up early. Once registration is open, details will be available on the City of Holyoke Recreation Facebook page.
The clinic will start with a 9:30 a.m. check-in Friday morning and will continue from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. It will include classroom sessions, video analysis and court time. At PGC, athletes will learn to play smart basketball and to be leaders in games, practices and everyday life. They will also learn to be playmakers who are a constant threat to score on every possession. The clinic will also teach them to train and practice like an elite level athlete and get teammates to work harder, work together and perform at a higher level.
As Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle put it, “PGC is the best basketball training program in America for learning how to think the game.”
These clinics are typically held as week-long camps on college campuses. Recreation director Victoria Dunker is excited to offer a program of such caliber to the athletes of rural northeastern Colorado at an affordable price and without having to travel to attend.
For questions or to get a direct registration link, contact Dunker at 970-580-3659 or recdirector@cityofholyoke-co.gov.

Dustin Aubert to direct clinic
Dustin Aubert will be traveling to Holyoke as the director of the May 31-June 1 PGC clinic. He is currently a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team at Long Beach State University where he assists in player development and analytical stat tracking. He will receive his master’s in kinesiology with an emphasis on coaching.
Aubert had his first experience with PGC in 2008 when he attended the Playmaker College II course. He returned the following summer to attend the Point Guard College course. As a college athlete in 2011, Aubert attended the PGC Collegiate course. Aubert joined the PGC staff the following summer and has been involved ever since.
