Rockies Skills Challenge is June 9

    A local competition of the Rockies Skills Challenge will be held Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at the Holyoke ballpark. Youth ages 6-13 (as of Dec. 31, 2018) are invited to participate in the free event. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. that morning.
    Boys and girls will compete separately, divided into age groups. They will be tested in three skills each: base running, batting and throwing. Points will be accumulated for a final score. All necessary equipment will be provided by the City recreation department, which is hosting the event.
    At the June 9 competition, Holyoke Lions Club will be sponsoring a free drink for anyone who purchases a ballpark burger. Rec director Victoria Timm said that everyone is welcome to go watch the event and take advantage of the Lions Club concession stand.
