Saturday swim meet starts summer season
Although members of the Holyoke summer swim team have already been practicing for a couple months, their rigorous summer schedule began this Tuesday, as about 60 local swimmers prepare for the first meet of the season Saturday, June 3.
Holyoke competes with the Northwest Kansas Swim League against Colorado teams from Wray, Burlington and Flagler, and Kansas teams from Goodland, Colby, Oakley and Oberlin.
The first swim meet, held at the Holyoke swimming pool, is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and should last until about 2 p.m. There is no fee to watch the meet, but spectators are reminded to enter the building from the southeast corner. Holyoke FCCLA will have a concessions stand open throughout the event.
